An internal I.T. team of five, mid-integration on a merger · Professional Services · June 20, 2025
An internal I.T. team of five inherited another company's users overnight. Ticket volume doubled the day of close. They needed help fast, without a permanent headcount decision made in a panic. Representative engagement.
An internal I.T. team of five had just watched their user count roughly double at merger close. Ticket volume doubled with it. Their real job for the next six months was the integration itself. Identity, apps, laptops, security tooling. Their apparent job that first Monday was answering the phone for a company they had never met. Something had to give.
We stood up Tier 1 helpdesk overflow for them in ten business days. Their ticket system, our engineers. We got read access to their knowledge base, wrote the missing articles ourselves as we hit gaps, and escalated cleanly to the internal team for anything Tier 2. The internal I.T. lead had a standing 15-minute check-in with our lead engineer every morning for the first month, then weekly, then monthly.
First-response SLA held through the whole integration window. The internal team shipped the identity migration on time. Not because we did it, but because we protected the time to let them do it. Once the integration steady-stated, engagement stepped down to a smaller retainer covering after-hours and vacation coverage. Which is roughly the pattern we see with almost every co-managed engagement: it grows during the crunch and settles into something quieter afterward.
